Nasty ulcer

Nasty ulcer

This lady saw me three days ago with this ulcerative lesion on her temple. At first I thought that this was a squamous cell carcinoma, but she said she’d only had the problem for ten days. It had started as two boils, which she had squeezed. She felt there was still a “root” inside which needed to come out and she kept digging. This produced hair follicle roots of course, which further convinced her that the poison had to be extracted. She tried applying a poultice of traditional herbs, and probably some other stuff, too.

Two days of daily cleaning, dressing and starting on a course of cloxacillin, and look at the progress in the picture below. She is staying at the unit as her daughter is due to deliver soon, so we might be able to get this healed in a couple of weeks.
