Short trip to Myanmar to renew my visa

The friendship bridge between Thailand and Myanmar is about five miles west of Mae Sot. Philip, the boyfriend of Clare, the microbiologist at SMRU, took me on the back of his scooter, as his visa needed renewing too. Land entry allows me another 15 days in Thailand. We left Thailand and walked across the bridge over the Moei River to Myawaddy. Billboards on the bridge were advertising girls and skin whitening cream.
We had our passports stamped in Myanmar, then wandered around the local market. Some pictures of local food, garment makers, and a family to give an impression of the place.
After an hour, we walked back over the bridge back into Thailand.
