Cracking cold sore

Cracking cold sore

Herpes simplex (type 1) is often a relapsing illness, which crops up when your immune system is compromised in some way, being depressed, exposed to bright sunshine, or suffering from another illness. This lady was more concerned about her appearance than the malaria from which she was suffering. She gets an attack two or three times per year.

Interestingly, none of the health staff on duty today had seen this. I am making a collection of photographs of skin conditions to use in teaching.
