Today I went cycling along the lanes and byways south of Mae Sot. I came across this wonderful temple being constructed. Normally the roof tiles are vivid primary colours, red, yellow, green or blue. These tiles are a subtle grey. The decorations at the roof edges are usually gold.
There is another established temple in the compound, but two of the doorways are being supported by steel scaffolding, not the usual bamboo or wood. It doesn’t look like it is falling down but I couldn’t see any warning signs about the safety of the building.
I smiled when I saw cabbages growing in plant pots, some seedy stone angels, playing a guitar or carrying a jug of some sort. The gallery of photographs doesn’t really do it justice.
