On Saturday, I was the medical officer responsible for the annual 10km “Fun Run”. The runners set off at 7am in the cool and most of the runners reached the finishing line by 8:30. Luckily, I had very little to do. I had heard stories about previous races where local athletes, running barefoot, managed to tear off the sole of their feet. I attended to someone with blisters. Another runner grazed their arms when they fell during the race. A few people were dehydrated and overheated, but they recovered quickly. I took a few photographs.
